Rodent exclusion and the one-way door in Dunbar

As the name suggests, the one-way door only allows access one-way, typically out of the structure (but be careful how you install it 🙂). It’s a tool we use to get rodents like rats and squirrels out of a property before it is sealed up.

At this home in Dunbar the homeowner complained about hearing noises in their basement and after a thorough inspection of the property, we discovered a number of rats living in one of the crawlspaces. 

Knowing how they operate is always important. For example: If the rats are living in the crawl space, the entry point is usually along the foundation. If we found the entry point along the soffit they would nest in the attic.

Solution

The solution was to install a one-way door and force the rats out of the structure, while also blocking them from getting in. Once we’re sure the rats are out of the home, then we proceed with locking down the entryways. 

Our technicians will use a variety of exclusion materials depending on the type of gap that needs to be sealed up, such as: Galvanized wire mesh, Copper wool, or Metal flashing to seal up the entryways.
